The Problem – The Government of Canada has identified that only about 12% (1 in 8) small businesses are using AI effectively. (National AI Strategy, AI for All)
Niagara regions have 20,000 small business of 100 employees or less (Niagara Economic development team)
17,600 therefore are not yet benefiting from the opportunities that AI can provide.
The federal government target needs to increase adoption of AI by small businesses from 12% to 60%.
That means jointly helping an additional 9,600 Small businesses (48%) in the Niagara region to embrace AI as a supportive business tool.
Most business owners spend their time working in their business rather than working on their business as a result, opportunities are often missed in areas such as:
• Marketing and visibility
• Website performance
• Customer engagement
• Business planning
• Health and safety
The Solution – It is proposed that NFIH hold a series of 20 by 11/2-hour weekly AI classes designed to support small business owners on how to get on the AI ladder.
AI Classes would include these topics–
1. Registering and choosing an AI Model and platform
2. Importance of chat history
3. Capabilities of AI
4. What data AI can read and how to detail prompts
5. Websites – How AI can review and improve visibility
6. Future AI needs by business type
The Ask
We are now seeking $10.000 sponsorship to stage the first 20 AI Introductory classes.
At an approximate estimate of $500 per Class made up of;
– Cost of an AI tutor
– Produce Slides and PDF files
– Marketing
– Room hires and Admin
$10,000 would launch 20 AI classes to some 300 businesses.
The Value Proposition
This is much more than a funding opportunity! In effect, these AI classes become both a learning platform and a business intelligence platform.
